An American hand tool manufacturer with roots dating to 1810 when the Sargent family entered the hardware business. The Sargent brothers acquired Peck & Walter Manufacturing Company in 1857, moved operations to New Haven, Connecticut in 1864, and incorporated as Sargent & Co. Schollhorn Co., founded in 1870 in New Haven, began the Sargent Quality Tools tradition and was acquired by Sargent in 1948. The hand tool division was purchased by Rostra Tool Company in 1987, then acquired by Oetiker Group (Switzerland) in 2014, which rebranded the US division as Elm City Tools in 2023. Currently headquartered in Wallingford, Connecticut, Sargent manufactures American-made hand tools including pliers, cutters, strippers, crimpers, and cable prep tools for electrical, telecommunications, datacom, automotive, and industrial markets with 150+ years of heritage.
